If you are a woman traveling for the first time in India, especially in Bombay, I would warn you to be very careful even amongst airport securities. They are more likely to create problems for you if you are a woman traveling alone. Try to find a man who is Indian on your flight who can speak the language well and ask him to help you with anything should any problems arise. Some airport security are more likely to hassle a woman traveling alone than others who are accompanied by family members.
Not knowing the language well can also be a minus point on your side, so deal with that accordingly.
